Are you thinking about making changes to your cannabis use? Here are some quick tips to get you started if you want to make a change.
Think about your use.
Think about what impact cannabis is having on your life. If you’re finding your use is affecting your relationships, study, or work; or unpleasant effects are starting to outweigh the pleasant effects, you may want to consider making changes.
Think about the reasons you want to change.
What are your reasons for wanting to make a change? How are your relationships, work, finances?
Consider your support options.
Making a change is a process, but it does get easier – especially with support. Find a good listener who genuinely supports your desire to change. What are the best support options for you? What kind of support do you need, and who are the people in your life that could give that to you?

Make a plan.
If you want to stop or cut down on your cannabis use, making a plan can really help. Consider the following points and write down some answers to use as a guide:
- What are some things you can do that are enjoyable and make you feel good about yourself?
- It’s natural to get cravings when you first give up cannabis. It can help to avoid situations that might make you want to smoke again. What are some situations, people, or environments you can avoid to reduce your cravings?
- Decide your next step.
Make your goal - decide how and when you are going to change your cannabis use. You may want to start by cutting down, only using at certain times, or stopping completely. There is no right or wrong way to make changes and you don’t need to quit outright if that isn’t realistic for you.
