Support tailored for Asian people. These services often have staff who can speak different languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi etc.) and understand the challenges that people can face as a migrant and refugee in New Zealand.

If you are Asian, these services aim to provide support that reflects your culture, language, and experiences. This helps you to engage fully with the support being provided. 

Many of these services provide holistic services, supporting their communities with a range of health issues – including alcohol and other drugs. They also often support people to access other services as needed. 

These services understand how important confidentiality is to ensure that all information that you share with them is kept private. You can ask them about their privacy policies if you would like more information.

Call the Asian Helpline (0800 862 342) or email [email protected] for support that is free and confidential. They are open from Monday to Friday between 9am-8pm and are available in eight languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Hindi, and English. This service is provided by Asian Family Services who also offer counselling services.
