Here are some things to think about if you’re using drugs regularly.
What was it like at the beginning?
Often the experience of using a drug can be very different from when we first start experimenting with it.
Ask yourself:
- What did you enjoy doing before you started taking this drug?
- What were your first experiences with this drug like?
- What do you really like about this drug?
- What did it give you that you felt you needed?
What is it like now?
Often our relationships with drugs can change over time and the experiences we have with them can look quite different.
Ask yourself:
- Has anything changed since you started using the drug?
- How often are you using it? Is it more than it used to be?
- Has anyone said they are worried about your use?
- Do you ever get cravings to use the drug?
- How’s your tolerance for the drug? Do you ever need to take more of it to get the effect you’re looking for?
- Has anything changed at work, home or in your relationships because of the drug?
- Is the drug still serving a purpose in your life or is that changing?
